Chest is closed

They left Hunter's chest open last night after the surgery in case there was any swelling. They said they usually close them up around 3 days for the average patient. We were surprised and gladdened to hear they wanted to sew Hunter back up today. He has been doing well and is not swollen or bleeding like they thought so they decided to close him up. We don't know if that means he will be home quicker, but it sure looks that way. He seems to be progressing very well. He had a bit of high blood pressure last night, but they were not concerned because the high blood pressure can sometimes cause blood to seep around the sutures, but in his case he was just fine and it ended up dropping back down to normal this morning. Other than that, there have been no problems. I'm not sure what the game plan is from here, but they're going to get a feeding tube in him soon and start letting him eat again and just slowly unhook him from things so we'll see what the next few days bring.
