Things are good
I don't know why, but it's been sooooo hard keeping this thing up to date. A lot has happened since the last post. On July 19th Hunter went in again for another swallow test and failed so he had to keep the feeding tube in. Because he's been breathing funny at times, we scheduled an appointment to see an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist and discovered that due to the surgery he had, he has vocal cord paralysis in his left vocal cord. They advised us that this could take months to heal so we're just waiting at this point. If it does not heal on its own, he may need surgery to correct it and his voice will be hoarse and breathy the rest of his life, a small price to pay to be alive. We actually go in for a follow-up today with an ENT at Primary's. The news gets better though. A few weeks ago, we went to see the cardiologist. Hunter's left ventricle has practically grown to normal size. When he was going to have the surgery, they were concerned that it may be too small and that the surgery might not work. Boy, did he prove them wrong! He really is a fighter though. We also learned that the blood clot in his heart was pretty much gone as well so we haven't had to give him any more shots for a few weeks now. Than a week ago, he had another swallow test and actually passed! That same day we were trying to get a hold his doctor to determine the next course of action, but didn't get a call back. So that night Hunter decided it was just time and pulled the feeding tube out himself. We finally got a hold of his doctor and told him what had happened and they said just leave the tube out so for the past week he's been eating from a bottle like a normal kid and doing very well at it. He's come such a long way in 3 months, it's unbelievable. Now that he's a real boy, we were planning on blessing him the first Sunday in September (5th). Our church is at 9am. We weren't going to send an formal invitations out so if you'd like to come, let us know and we'll make sure you know where our church is, etc.
